Sue Burden set up Pilates Near Me in 2021 after completing her Pilates Instructor Course. Sue has practised pilates for over 25 years and found it helped keep her fit both physically and mentally whilst she worked as a veterinary nurse & practice manager.

Moving to Scotland in 2018, initially living near Oban Sue attended local pilates classes and noted that there was very few fitness classes held in the surrounding villages. There was a need to take Pilates to the people! Hence Pilates Near Me came into being.

Sue, at present teaches in six different locations reaching out to people that would not normally have the time to travel into towns for Pilates classes.

It has proved so successful that Sue hopes to expand locations of in-person classes, on-line classes and workshops.
Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's as a whole body exercise system to improve movement in daily life.

Originally called 'Contrology', Pilates focuses on core strength leading to better alignment, balance, mobility & strength through movement and breath working together.

The original 34 exercises were developed to work the deeper, smaller muscles of the body alongside the bigger primary muscles.

Pilates is a low impact exercise and although the exercises can look simple they can be deceptively challenging when performed correctly & regularly.

Since it's conception Pilates has evolved into many different streams. Which although some practitioners feel unless it is the original exercise regime it is not Pilates, Sue feels the evolvement of the pilates method is only a good thing, as it can reach so many more people.

Pilates can be tailored to individual needs with exercises being adapted accordingly.
Mat exercises can be done using your own body weight and/or various pieces of small equipment, including balls, bands, foam rollers & circles.
